                            Hybrid Essay: Why is Los Angeles a great place to live at?

           What makes a city a great place to live? It all depends on the person and what they are looking for. For example, an adult won't be looking for the same things a teenager would look for. Parents won't be looking for the same thing any one else is. Now what is it about Los Angeles that makes it a great place to live at? Few of the things that make it so great is the variety in climate. It isn't always hot, we also get rain and snow or it can be cold or it can be warm. Another thing about Los Angeles is that it is very diverse. There is all kinds of races of people living here. Which then brings us to food too because of the great diversity we get to try new foods. Now something else about Los Angeles is the entertainment. Los Angeles also has great geographical sites that one can go visit and be astonished by nature.

          To begin with, Los Angeles is great because of the variety in climate. One day we can have very hot weather and the next we can be ennjoying from the both hot and cold. Many see this good because not in all places do they enjoy of all kinds of weather they usually experience just hot weather or its always cold. In a website called Sparling's best places a guy named Don comments , "I don't think any city in the world has the unique combination of climate and cultural diversity hat Los Angeles has, and that's the main reason I love it here." As we can see that is one great reason why many chose to live here in L.A.

          Now something else that makes L.A. such a great place is the diversity we have. Thanks to this we can meet different kind of people and we can learn about different cultures. This also means different kind of foods. When one lives here we get to eat all kinds of food and some that we didn't even know it existed. We can have from Chinese food to American food.

          Something else that L.A. has that many other cities don't have is entertainment. We get to enjoy our free time by going to different places full of entertainment. Some places we have are Six Flags, Universal Studios, Disneyland and much more. On the weekend many can go and enjoy this. It is even better for students because they get discounts just for being students. These are few things that we enjoy from as residents of Los Angeles. Many of my friends like to go to these attractions during the summer vacation because these places take advantage of students being out of school and make prices cheaper so more can go.

          Another thing is that we have great places to relax in. In other words we have great geographical places. There so many beautiful places to go to just to enjoy nature. There are the Santa Monica Mountains. This is a great place many go to hike and get some fresh air. One time I went to hike with my family and some friends and they found rabbits and we also heard rattlesnakes. It may sound dangerous but only once did we here them so it's not that bad.

          Now speaking of danger many say Los Angeles isn't a great place to live because it's more dangerous than any other place. In the article "Reasons why Los Angeles Is The Worst Place Ever," we see how the author compares Los Angeles with London. He states how in Los Angeles one has so many dangers to worry about. Like we have to worry about earthquakes and tsunamis too since we have the ocean connected to us. Another worry is when we go to the mountains to hike we can't go hiking peacefully because we may find a dangerous animal while going up. This has happened to me before but that is why one should know what not to do when one see's an animal. Los Angeles isn't the only place that is dangerous.

           In conclusion, some people may see it as a bad place but it really is a good place to live at. I think that to enjoy something you should always look at the good things because everything will always have it's dangers to it. Los Angeles is great because it has a combination of everything. It offers us the combination of diversity and great climate. It also offers geographical places and entertainment. Yes it may have it's down sides to it but it still has good things to it.

Conclusion

This is to end my research part of the project. My blog was about LA and how it is a great city. Thats what I was researching. For the last few months I found it interesting how so many have different views to this topic. Many either view life in LA as something bad or something good.

                  Metacognitive Analysis

In this project of creating a blog there has many good and bad experiences. I have never thought I would be writing a blog because it never really interest me and it wasnt something that seemed easy to do. If it weren't for this class I wouldn't have known what it was like. It isn't something so easy to do you have to know what the point of your blog is so you can make it through this project. A blog isn't  just a website with funny pictures or facts its to inform you of something. A blog is usually made to prove a point. 

When it came to making my blog I knew what I was going to write about because of past experiences I have had through out my life and being able to have a first hand in things makes writing easier. For example, I wrote of Los Angeles. The reason I did so was because I know what Los Angeles is like and what others think of it but I want to let people know that it really isn't such a bad place as it seems. By using my experiences and what others thought it made it more credible.

I didn't like the idea of using a blog though but I learned what it was like to use one. For me it wasn't such a great experience because I don't like to be posting what I think is interesting and since I don't like to be updating something often I didn't like this experience. It was something really boring for me but pretty interesting to see how creative others did their blogs. I was more like a simple person because technology for me can get very frustrating. 

After all, doing this blog teached me many things. I learned how to use the media more than I used to. I learned little things that others may know already how to do but I didn't so by doing this I learned what a blog was and how to make one. It is pretty interesting just at points when one doesnt get how to do something that involves the media gets pretty frustrating. Other than that it was good. I even learned new things about Los Angeles that I didn't know. Like i'm surprised how many saw Los Angeles as a dangerous place. I know it is but I never thought of it like that since some parts are pretty safe to me just depends where you live.

Climate in LA

In Los Angeles we are all used to different climate. We are fortunate enough to have a little of everything. Anyone who lives here can agree that it is something good to live in a place like this because we dont have to suffer from the cold so much or from having too many hot days. Sometimes we also have some great days in which climate is perfect to just go out and enjoy nature as you can see in one of the pictures below. Yes it may get cold here in L.A. as you can see in the picture today it is cloudy but it isnt that bad and we dont see this everyday. In some states like Alaska you dont see the sun for very long. Now imagine yourself living there I know many wouldn't last on a state like that.

Today while at school. Beautiful day although it is cloudy but nice weather. :)

Is LA a bad place to live?

Many people believe that LA is a very bad place to live. There are three articles I found in which the authors wrote about what made Los Angeles a bad place to live at. In one article titled, "LA:What are the pros and cons of living in Los Angeles, CA?", the author states that one of the things that makes LA such a bad place is economic status. If you don't have a stable job it is better if you don't live here because the economy isn't so well. This is why one should plan out and see where one will afford to live. The experience of how you will live here in LA depends on your planning.

In another article titled "Why do I hate L.A.?", the author states that sometimes one hates a place is because one has perceptions of those certain places. This author states how he has came to hate L.A. because of what he has heard and when he visits all he sees is the negative things like the traffic. He then states that he has also visited other places and some places are much worst than L.A. but he don't see them too bad because before he went they never told him the negative things about the city.

In the final article "Reasons why Los Angeles Is The Worst Place Ever," wee see how the author compares Los Angeles with London. He states how in Los Angeles one has so many dangers to worry about. As we see, throughout these three articles there are different reasons why people think LA is such a bad place, This may be true that its dangerous which then makes it a bad city but even so LA has its good things too. This is the only place that you have a mixture of climates. It can be hot or cold or even just warm. Los Angeles isn't so bad as many may think.

Food in LA

Here in LA we have different things that make it a great place to live. One of my favorites is the diversity in culture. Thanks to that we have different kinds of restaurants with different foods. For example we have the opportnity to learn about cuban food, mediterranean food, chinese food and much more. Many of us can be mexican salvadorean or guatemalan or from any part of the world and yet still learnabout other foods. You can also have friends from different cultures. This makes it more interesting because you get a deeper insight of how a certain culture is.

A Little Taste of Los Angeles

In this video we get a little bit of what LA is like. LA is a city full of different attractions. It is a very great place to live at although people say traffic is very bad here but it isn't as bad as other places. Here in LA it is mainly full of people because of how great it is. In the video you can see the different things that make Los Angeles such a great city. One is Hollywood. Here in LA many tourists come to see the stars of Hollywood but if you were to live here you can go whenever you want and visit as many times as you will like. The fact that we have access to the ocean makes it great too because in the summer you can enjoy your weekend with the family in the beach.

One of the few things that make LA such a great city is that it has a great variety of geographical sites. This beautiful garden you see here is located in the Huntington Library. One of the many places you can go see here in Los Angeles. This is the Japanese Garden but its not the only garden that you can see at this Library. It is also a museum in which you can go view art and there are books and letters inside as well.

Why is LA such a great place to live at

Reading this article has helped me realize that each person has different lists of why LA is such a great city to live at. In this article I have seen that some of the reasons why certain people love to live here is because of the great climate and the diversity of people. Since there is a diversity of culture that means we get to meet different people from different parts of the world. This also brings us to food. I know for a fact we all love food. I think some great things from the list are the beaches. We benefit from leaving in a city with a great geography. Not only do we enjoy of beaches but also on the other side we have mountains to go snowboarding or skiing, we can also enjoy the desserts and we have great forests and different places to go and enjoy nature. Another reason why many love to live here is the opportunities one has to work here. You can find different kinds of jobs but now like in other places of the world we can’t really see that. Another reason why some people enjoy the city is the transportation. If you like to drive around you can do this here. We also can ride the bus if you don’t like driving so we have choices when it comes to transportation. Many of us have different reasons why to love living in Los Angeles. These are just few of the things that make LA great but there are many more reasons.

Hypothesis

The way I chose my topic was by making a list of topics I was familiar with. Then I just decided to get LA because I have a better chance to explain this place better because it's were I live and grew up. This way I can let people know what is so great about living here that no on else has access to unless they are living in LA. I would like to share with everyone my experiences living here and why I enjoy it.
